Pre-Bday Celebration and So long 2011...

Hello Beauties!!!

Last night the boo and I decided to get out for an early celebration for drinks and social. We finally managed to leave the house around 1am and didn't end of anywhere except back home. We realize everything was either too packed or the fact that Alabama law stops the serving of alcohol at 2am...That sucks!!! But thank God for friends, we ended up heading to a friend of ours who loves to entertain no matter what time it is. So we headed there and drank wine until 5am! I had so much fun as a matter of fact because we talked about everything under the sun and got advice about any and everything!

This weekend is such a bummer because my boo will be celebrating his birthday on Saturday and I will not be home to spend it with him... :-( ...I have to work all freaking weekend!!! Sometimes I really hate my job due to the fact that I work 12hrs overnight from 7pm to 7am. I do have some after birthday plans in mind for him though ;-).

Well here is a look at the outfit I chose the wear out for drinks:

This Christmas

Hello Beauties!!!

I hope each and everyone of you had a safe and blessed Christmas. This Christmas for me was so much fun!!! I spent Christmas in Mobile with my boyfriend and his family and I had a blast! I did manage to stop by and visit with my family, but my Mommy was not home :(...but I did see my sisters which made me happy as well. After visiting for an hour or two, we headed on into his stomping grounds. We made it to Mobile about 5pm or so and upon arriving, the excitement was already filled throughout his home. You could hear his Mom bumping around in the kitchen, preparing some delicious Seafood Gumbo! We were only there for the weekend, and it flew by so fast! I wish I could bring it back... He and I are considering moving back there some day, but that is another story.

Although our weekend ended so fast, I did manage to get just a few pictures because my photographer was out of pocket for the most part. I didn't mind because he was spending time with his friends and it is not everyday that he gets to see them now since moving to Birmingham back in August. I didn't get to snap photos of the family because no one felt the need to get cute, so I did get him in the mood to snap one with me. He is not a friend of the camera at all, so here is my boo and I:

Here is are a few pictures of me:

Jacket: GAP, T-shirt: JCP, Skinny Cargos: Kmart, Necklace: RUE21, Ring: Jewelry Sale @ Work, Shoes: Urbanog

Later that Sunday night, I did get to hang out with my friend Kelly of KellyMonroe. I chilled at her house keeping her company because she wasn't feeling so good, but I have that affect on people to get them in the mood for anything especially a laugh or two! We did get out to hit up a Walgreens to check out the deals on the makeup and what not. We did manage to find a few things which is always great!!!

I think I wanna move back...

I will be venturing to a thrift store tomorrow!!!! Yay!!! Wish me luck because I know they should have some amazing things in stock!

Wishing each and everyone of you a safe and Happy New Year!!!!

Smooches!!!!...ttyl in the New Year!!!

Hollywood Glam

Hello Beauties!!!

Having a great weekend everyone? I sure hope you are because mine has been a busy one. I did a post earlier this week about my hair and I still did not like the look at all unfortunately :(. I did contact my stylist and I did get a hair re-do. It turned out perfectly and just in time for the wedding I had to sing in. I titled this post Hollywood Glam because it was the theme of the wedding. The wedding was really nice and I did a good job too!!! (I'm not tooting my own horn, I was told I did a great job...Lol!) I performed "The Prayer" by Donnie McClurkin and Yolanda Adams with a guy named Jay King. The duet thing is pretty cool! It makes me less nervous because I have to share the spotlight with someone else. Thanks Jay!

Anywho, I stopped in to share the look I wore for the evening and a few pictures of the Wedding:

Blazer: Torrid; Tube/Bustier/Pants: Lane Bryant; Shoes: Shoetime; Necklace: CATO

Here are a few pictures of what I could get after the ceremony:

Bride: Holly Frierson-Murphy

Just some other random pictures from the wedding reception:

Groom: Wilton Murphy
I loved his look!! Wish you all could see the shoes! OMG!

Groom's Cake
(He's a Kappa of course...)

The wedding was so nice and I am so happy for the two of them and I wish them all the best!!!

Have a great weekend!!!!

Featured: Huffington Post

Hello Beauties!!!

I have been holding out for a whole day, and I cannot believe that I held out that long!!! This October, I was contacted by an official of the Huffington Post named WendyB. Be sure and check her out!!! She is a blogger as well as a jewelry designer and I was asked to do a Peplum look to be published on the Stylelist of the Huffington Post. She was doing a style article on the Peplum look. The look was getting mixed reviews as I read in her article, and some of the most well known celebrities to date have received worse dress for wearing the look. I personally think the look is timeless as well as flattering to any figure.  Check it out for yourselves.

This feature is something that was a longtime coming and I consider this a tremendous blessing!!!

You can find the entire article and see other bloggers here .

"Never say never"? That doesn't go far enough when it comes to fashion. The best way to predict trends is to remember my theory that "Never is the next new thing." That's because the most provocative/grating/startling looks -- the ones that make you say, "I would NEVER wear that!" -- actually have a good chance of catching on. Fashion is about change (Oscar Wilde gibed, "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.") and change can be painful at first. But then your eye adjusts and before you know it you're wearing the skinny jeans, jeggings, mullet dresses and maxi skirts that seemed so unappealing mere months before.
The latest example is the peplum -- an overskirt, ruffle or flare at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, dress or skirt. Back in February, actress Nicole Kidman landed on multiple worst-dressed lists thanks to the white Christian Dior gown with a peplum-like detail that she wore to the Oscars. In July, when Emma Stone wore Giambattista Valli's peplum skirt in impossible-to-miss hot pink to a premiere of Friends with Benefits, reaction was still mixed. Undeterred, Stone wore a peplum dress by Valli in October, and now she has plenty of red-carpet company. In recent weeks, Emma Watson has worn a Jason Wu peplum top; Emily Blunt, a Notte by Marchesa gown; Gemma Arterton, a strapless black Stella McCartney cocktail dress; Nicole Ritchie, a red Stella McCartney; Blake Lively, feathered Chanel Couture; and Jaime King, an Alice & Olivia top. The peplum is here to stay, too. While the pink peplum dress Kerry Washington wore to a benefit in October was from Marc Jacob's Fall 2011 collection, Stella McCartney's peplum pieces are from Spring 2012.
This isn't the peplum's first time in the spotlight: it was also popular in the 1940s and 1950s, when Christian Dior's New Look emphasized a nipped-in waist, and again in the 1980s. Therefore, some fashion bloggers are picking up their peplums from thrift and vintage stores, while others are buying this season's pieces. It's hard to tell the difference. Blogger Cara of Cara's Closet bought a peplum dress for $5 in a consignment store and wore it to a wedding, where she discovered a practical advantage: "Turns out peplums are a great way for disguising 'food babies,'" she told me. With the holiday-party season getting underway, a peplum may be the best way to look fashion-forward and go crazy with the hors d'oeuvre.
See how fashion bloggers wear peplums in this slideshow. If you're inspired, you can search for "peplum" onShopStyle for new looks and eBay for vintage.
